On the night of August 14, Russian forces attacked Smila, Cherkasy Oblast, with a strike drone. The enemy drone hit a multi-story residential building, injuring five people.

This was reported by the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets.

According to him, the drone was loaded with shrapnel and hit a high-rise building directly.

“An enemy UAV, loaded with shrapnel, hit a high-rise building,” Taburets reported.

Medics provided assistance to five victims. They refused hospitalization.

At the same time, according to the head of the OVA, the residents of the apartment that was at the epicenter of the strike were not at home during the attack, which allowed for the avoidance of casualties.

“The residents of the apartment that was at the epicenter of the attack were not at home at the time of the attack,” Taburets noted.

After the impact, fires broke out at the scene. Rescuers quickly extinguished the fire. Significant damage was recorded in one of the entrances.

All emergency services are currently on the scene. An operational headquarters has been deployed to assist residents, and the impact of the attack is being assessed.
