Russia hits Kyiv with missiles: there are casualties and dozens of injured

On the night of Thursday, April 16, Russian occupation forces launched a missile strike on Kyiv. There were deaths and injuries, and there was destruction and fires in several areas of the city.

This was announced by the city mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Initially, two people were reported dead — a 12-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman. Later, the data was revised: the number of victims increased to four, including a child. 45 people were injured, 26 of whom were hospitalized, the rest were treated on the spot.

The most destruction was recorded in the Podilskyi district. There, a rocket hit a non-residential building, and debris fell in several places. A fire broke out in a residential building, high-rise buildings were damaged, part of a mini-hotel and adjacent houses were destroyed. Two people were found dead in one of the houses under the rubble, including a child. There are also injured people. In other locations in the district, the facades of buildings were damaged, people had to be evacuated from some apartments, and some were rescued from under the rubble.

An office building in the Obolonskyi district was damaged by a fire, and parked cars also caught fire. A warehouse, a shop, and a tire shop were damaged. Two people were killed and six more were injured, including medics and police officers who arrived on call.

Rocket debris was found in an open area in the Dnipro district.

In Desnyanske, a two-story residential building caught fire due to falling debris.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, debris fell near a residential building and on a playground – there were no fires or injuries.

Rescuers and medics are currently working on the scene, eliminating the consequences of the attack and helping the victims.
