Russia is accelerating its anti-migrant campaign through fakes and AI content – CPD

The Center for Countering Disinformation has announced a new wave of anti-migrant campaigns in the Ukrainian segment of social networks. They use fakes, clickbait, and content created with the help of artificial intelligence.

This is reported by the Central Police Department.

The CPD noted that Facebook pages that previously published mostly manipulative news are now massively spreading fakes about alleged crimes committed by migrants in Ukraine.

To do this, they use fictional stories and emotional headlines like “migrants attacked a schoolboy” or “torn down the Ukrainian flag.” All such posts are accompanied by AI images and lead to anonymous Telegram channels without any real evidence.

The CPD emphasizes that none of the described events actually occurred.

Against this background , the topic of labor migration from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh has recently been actively promoted in Ukraine .

AI-generated photos were spread on social media, where people from Asia or Africa were allegedly hugging Ukrainian women in embroidered shirts. AI videos also appeared, where Pakistanis were allegedly dancing hopak, and Ukrainian cities were deliberately distorted – in particular, the name “Ivano-Indiysk” was invented.

The campaign is already going beyond social media. A small anti-migration rally took place in Kyiv this weekend, and similar actions may take place in other cities in Ukraine.

The CPD emphasizes that such informational interventions play into Russia’s hands, as they aim to destabilize the situation within the country, provoke conflicts, and sow distrust in society.

Ukrainians were urged to adhere to information hygiene, not to distribute dubious content, and to use only verified sources of information.
