Russia is attacking the Southern Bridge, but will not be able to destroy it: Kovalenko named the real goal

Russia uses strikes on civilian and critical infrastructure not only to inflict physical damage, but also to create an information effect. In particular, attacks on the Southern Bridge in Kyiv may be aimed at damaging it and blocking its operation, creating additional problems for the city.

This was stated by the former head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko.

According to him, Russian forces are now using a “technological window of opportunity” to strike at businesses, energy, and civilian targets. At the same time, some of these attacks, in his opinion, are initially designed to create a certain “picture.”

Kovalenko noted that the threat to the bridges of Kyiv and other major cities has existed since the beginning of the full-scale war. The Southern Bridge, he said, is a complex structure that is difficult to destroy.

“Jet rockets are not the kind of weapon capable of this, but they can damage the bridge and block its normal operation. The very blocking will create a problem, as well as a picture for spreading panic,” Kovalenko wrote.

He also drew attention to the discussion regarding a possible response to the Crimean Bridge, which he called one that has “sacred significance” for Russia.

At the same time, Kovalenko emphasized that there are other facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation that may have much greater logistical value.

“Many write about the importance of the response to the Crimean Bridge, which has sacred significance. But the Russian Federation also has much more logistically attractive targets on its territory,” he noted.

As a reminder, on the night of October 2, Russian troops again attacked the Southern Bridge in Kyiv . A 25-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district was also damaged as a result of the enemy strike.

As reported, due to the consequences of the night attack by Russian troops in Kyiv, traffic restrictions were introduced on the Southern Bridge, Paton Bridge, and Metro Bridge . At the same time, the traffic pattern at two crossings was changed during the morning.

By the way, in Kyiv, due to restrictions on traffic on bridges across the Dnieper, significant traffic jams formed on the morning of October 2. The most difficult situation was on the routes between the left and right banks, and taxi rides at this time became sharply more expensive.
