Russian troops are attempting to take advantage of the deteriorating autumn weather for localized assaults in the Hulyai-Polye area. However, Ukrainian defenders are holding back the enemy’s advance and inflicting losses.
The press center of the 7th Airborne Assault Corps reported this.
The corps’ area of responsibility includes units of five combined arms armies of the Russian Federation – the 5th, 29th, 35th and 36th, as well as the 68th Army Corps.
According to Ukrainian military data, deep infiltration remains the enemy’s primary tactic. The Russians are attempting to infiltrate with small infantry groups of one to five men. They periodically use motorcycles and other motorized vehicles to move their infantry within a five-kilometer zone in front of the combat line.
Recently, Ukrainian troops destroyed a group from the 22nd Separate Guards Special Forces Brigade, a unit subordinate to the Russian GRU, at one of the sites. According to the corps, this unit took part in two Chechen wars and carried out special missions in Ukraine from 2014 to 2022.
The Russians also spent a long time accumulating armored vehicles within a 20-kilometer zone from the line of combat.
“In the last week, with deteriorating weather, the enemy has begun conducting localized assaults, deploying infantry, motorcycles, and armored vehicles. In this way, the enemy is attempting to accelerate the strategic objective of reaching the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia and blocking the regional capital,” the statement reads.
According to intelligence, units of the 5th Tank Brigade, the 37th Motorized Rifle Brigade, and the 64th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Federation have completed training at training grounds and are ready to operate with military equipment in the direction of the main attack.
The 7th Airborne Assault Corps notes that the Hulyai-Pole sector remains a key area for Russian forces in southern Ukraine. Therefore, the enemy is deploying significant forces to replace combat losses.
Ukrainian units continue their defensive operation, holding back Russian attacks and inflicting losses on the occupiers.
