Ukrainian long-range strikes on military and industrial targets in Russia are raising concerns among Russian elites and the public, but analysts say Russian President Vladimir Putin is unlikely to change course despite mounting economic and military pressure.

This is reported by The Washington Post .

Recent Ukrainian strikes have damaged a number of important facilities in Russia, including defense industry enterprises, oil refining infrastructure, and other strategic targets. Against this backdrop, fuel production problems have worsened in the country, and restrictions on its sale have been imposed in some regions.

The attacks have also heightened concerns about the state of the Russian economy, with the stock market having fallen sharply since early June, and officials seeking additional sources of funding for military spending.

Analysts say Ukraine’s strikes are increasingly weighing on Russia’s sense of security and exposing the vulnerability of its critical infrastructure, but they believe the Kremlin is likely to respond with further escalation rather than a change in policy.

“A new cycle of escalation seems to be ahead,” said a Russian scientist who spoke to the publication on condition of anonymity.

According to analysts, despite growing “anxiety” in Russia and economic difficulties, there are currently no signs that Vladimir Putin is ready to abandon his chosen course of waging war.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed that on the night of June 27, FP-5 Flamingo missiles successfully hit the Titan-Barricades enterprise in Volgograd, Russia.

The day before, on the night of Wednesday, June 24, Ukrainian forces struck two important Russian industrial facilities in the Orenburg region . These are the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant and the Orenburg Helium Plant.
