Russia is massively recruiting Kenyans for the war against Ukraine

The Kenyan parliament announced that Russia has recruited over a thousand of its citizens to participate in the war against Ukraine.

This is reported by Le Monde.

MP Kimani Ichungwah cited a joint report by the intelligence services and the Criminal Investigation Department, saying that more than 1,000 Kenyans have already gone to fight, far exceeding the previously reported figure of 200.

He noted that the recruits leave Kenya on tourist visas. They then head to Russia via Istanbul and Abu Dhabi. Some citizens who work abroad also travel to the Russian Federation from their host countries.

According to the MP, many of the recruits signed military contracts with the promise of a monthly salary of between 920 and 2,400 euros. The recruitment, he said, is carried out by a recruitment agency in Nairobi.

As of February, 28 recruits were missing, 35 were in camps or military bases, 89 were fighting on the front lines, and 39 were hospitalized. Another 30 citizens had been returned to Kenya.

Ichungwah said that recruitment agencies are collaborating with corrupt employees at Nairobi Airport, as well as with individual representatives of employment services and diplomatic institutions.

Among other African countries targeted for recruitment, the MP named Uganda and South Africa.

It was previously reported that mercenaries from Africa who fought on the side of Russia against Ukraine received Russian passports.

Let us remind you that the Russian Federation is actively involving foreign mercenaries in the war against Ukraine.
