Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkanen warned that Moscow is increasing its military presence near the borders of the European Union and is preparing for a possible new wave of aggression — even when the current conflict in Ukraine ends.

He made this statement at a meeting of the NATO Council in Brussels, CNN reports.

“Russia is indeed ramping up its military efforts for the second phase of its potential aggression. After the end of the war in Ukraine, there are real threats to NATO,” Häkkanen said.

He emphasized that the modernization of weapons and the concentration of Russian forces near European borders is a powerful signal of increasing risk.

At the same time, the minister announced that Finland will join the PURL initiative, through which American military support for Ukraine will be purchased. According to him, a new financial and military assistance package for Kyiv should be announced this week.

Recall that Russia is actively forming the psychological and informational basis for a possible future war against NATO.

As reported, the former head of US Army Forces in Europe, General Ben Hodges, stated that if Russia decides to start a war against a NATO member country, the military response will be immediate and devastating . According to him, the Alliance’s strikes will destroy key Russian military facilities – including in Kaliningrad and Sevastopol – in the first hours after the conflict begins.
