Moscow does not rule out the possibility of negotiations with Ukraine, but insists on its own demands.

This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with the propaganda TV channel “Russia 24”, which was quoted by Russian media.

According to Lavrov, Russia allegedly “does not close the door” to a diplomatic settlement, in particular in the formats of “bilateral or trilateral dialogue.” At the same time, he emphasized that any negotiations involving the leaders of states, according to him, must be “prepared as thoroughly as possible.”

In addition, Lavrov repeated the Kremlin’s key propaganda theses, stating that without “security guarantees for Russia” and taking into account the so-called “rights of Russians in Ukraine,” reaching lasting agreements is impossible.

Previously, the Kremlin has repeatedly voiced similar conditions, promoting a “peace” that is beneficial to itself, which involves maintaining control over the occupied territories and legitimizing aggression.

As a reminder, on August 18, multilateral talks were held in Washington, involving US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and leaders of key European countries. The central topic of the discussions was the prospect of ending the war in Ukraine and launching a new peace process initiated by Washington.

As reported, a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin could take place in the coming weeks. According to European diplomatic sources, Hungary is being considered as a potential venue for the talks.

In addition, a group of over 30 states, including Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and France, is actively working on creating a concept of international security guarantees for Ukraine.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump, together with the leaders of European countries, agreed to create a special working group that will prepare a draft of security guarantees for Ukraine. This intergovernmental format will be headed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
