Russia is preparing fake protests in Cyprus against support for Ukraine

Russia is trying to organize artificial protests in Cyprus against EU policy and support for Ukraine.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

According to the CPD, the Russian Embassy in Cyprus, “Rossotrudnichestva” structures, and pro-Russian organizations were involved in preparing the actions. The so-called “Russian Cultural Center” is coordinating them.

The organizers plan to hold rallies until April 25 under anti-war slogans. At the same time, they are trying to shift responsibility for the war onto Ukraine, the EU, and NATO. Among the main demands is the cessation of EU funding for Ukraine.

The CPD notes that with such actions, the Kremlin is trying to undermine support for Ukraine and provoke a split in the EU.

At the same time, Cyprus continues to support the territorial integrity of Ukraine. European structures have already received information about the artificial nature of these actions and their organizers.

As previously reported, the European Union finally unblocked a loan to support Ukraine for 2026–2027 and simultaneously adopted the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

As a reminder, the European Commission expects that the first funds under the new €90 billion loan package for Ukraine may arrive by the end of the second quarter of 2026.
