Russia is preparing for a “shock” oil price: a barrel will cost $40

In late 2025 – early 2026, world oil prices may drop significantly, then a barrel will cost $40-50, according to a report by the Roscongress Foundation.

This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

As noted, the current price of oil per barrel is $66–68, but the market is experiencing a “new price war.”

“The OPEC+ oil deal is bursting at the seams: Saudi Arabia is increasing oil production, which is creating a supply surplus. Shale exporters are also adding their voice, rapidly increasing drilling, despite the price,” the SZRU emphasizes.

In addition, the market is further pressured by the slowdown in China’s economy and the growth of oil exports from a number of countries, including Brazil, Guyana, and Norway.

At the same time, geopolitical factors currently have almost no impact on the cost.

“As a result, the global supply of oil is growing faster than demand,” the service concluded.

Recall that due to the rapid decline in oil and gas revenues and rising costs , the Russian government will make changes to the budget for the second time in a year .
