Russia is preparing for new offensive operations on several fronts and is intensifying strikes on the Ukrainian rear. Moscow is preparing to continue the war and try to achieve military results.
This is stated in a report by the American Institute for the Study of War ( ISW ).
Analysts note that on the night of February 7, Russia carried out one of the most massive strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in recent times. The attack involved more than 400 drones and missiles, with the main targets being high-voltage substations, including those that power nuclear power plants.
“Russia used the short-term pause in energy strikes to stockpile missiles and drones, then to deliver the most destructive strikes in the dead of winter,” ISW analysts noted.
At the same time, Russian troops have intensified offensive operations in eastern and southern Ukraine. According to experts, Russian units are advancing near Pokrovsk, as well as in the Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka tactical zone in Donetsk region.
Also, according to analysts, the pressure of Russian troops in the Kupyansk, Sloviansk and Zaporizhzhia directions remains. Experts believe that Russia is trying to expand the zone of active hostilities and exhaust Ukrainian forces, creating the prerequisites for new large-scale offensives.
“The combination of energy strikes, increased production and use of drones and missiles, as well as constant attacks on the frontline indicates the Kremlin’s lack of intentions to de-escalate,” ISW analysts emphasized.
The Institute for the Study of War noted that, in their assessment, Moscow is preparing to continue the war and try to achieve military results.
It was previously reported that Russian troops are trying to accumulate personnel and equipment to storm Myrnograd, Donetsk region. The Ukrainian Defense Forces are striking at the occupiers’ concentration sites and their logistics.
