Russia is preparing its own Starlink: satellites are already flying over Ukraine

Russian satellites “Rassvet” are already capable of creating an alternative communication channel over Ukraine for the needs of the Russian army.
This is stated in a study published on Military.
Analysts have tracked the movement of three full-fledged prototype satellites from Bureau 1440. They orbit in a compact group and regularly fly directly over the territory of Ukraine.
During each such flight, a so-called “working window” for communication is formed. It lasts approximately 15-20 minutes and allows for Internet communication sessions.
Researchers emphasize that even a limited number of satellites already opens up possibilities for practical use for military purposes. If the devices are optimally distributed in orbit, taking into account the needs of the Russian troops, the effectiveness of the system will increase.
In particular, a group of 16 satellites will be able to provide several communication sessions per day. The total duration of such “windows” will reach several hours each day.
Analysts emphasize that Ukraine should prepare countermeasures now. The first cases of use of the system may begin even before the network is fully deployed.
Satellites of this type allow not only to maintain communication between units, but also to control drones via satellite terminals. Previously, Russian forces used Starlink for this purpose, until access to it was restricted.
The emergence of its own communications system in the form of “Rassvet” may create additional risks – primarily in the field of controlling drones and other means of destruction in real time.
It was previously reported that Russia has launched the first communications satellites into orbit that can be used as an alternative to Starlink for the military.
