Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is considering five scenarios for expanding the war through northern Ukraine.
The head of state announced this in Telegram .
According to Zelensky, the members of the Headquarters analyzed in detail Ukrainian intelligence data regarding possible offensive operations by the Russian Federation in the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction.
The President emphasized that Ukraine is preparing responses to each of the possible scenarios of Russia’s actions in the event of an attempt to expand aggression.
“Ukraine will definitely defend itself, and now our task is to strengthen our state so that none of the five Russian scenarios of expanding the war through northern Ukraine works,” Zelenskyy said.
He also reported that the Ukrainian command decided to increase forces in this direction.
In addition, the president instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare additional diplomatic measures regarding Belarus, which Russia could use to expand the war.
According to Zelensky, Ukrainian special services have also received certain non-public tasks in this area.
The president also announced preparations to expand the geography of long-range sanctions against the Russian Federation, which, he said, have already shown effectiveness.
Separately, information about possible new mobilization steps in Russia was discussed at the Stavka. According to Zelensky, Moscow may plan to attract another 100,000 people, but Ukraine does not see sufficient potential in Russia for a covert mobilization of such a scale.
At the same time, the president suggested that the Kremlin may resort to other political decisions, including similar to recent steps regarding the Transnistrian region of Moldova.
As previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the heads of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the Central Military District of the Ukrainian SSR, and the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the security situation and Russia’s actions . They discussed Russia’s attempts to increase Belarus’ involvement in the war against Ukraine and possible threats in certain areas.
