Russia is spreading fake news about Ukraine’s chemical weapons – CPD

Russia has intensified its disinformation campaign accusing Ukraine of using chemical weapons.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Russia’s permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague, Vladimir Tarabrin , stated that Ukraine allegedly “ continues to develop a covert chemical weapons program” and is preparing “ provocations using chemical weapons.”

The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that Russia has repeatedly spread similar accusations without any evidence , and they have never been confirmed .

At the same time, international observers recorded cases of the use of chemical weapons by Russian troops, which became the basis for the introduction of international sanctions.

The Central Political Department noted that the dissemination of such statements is part of Moscow’s propaganda tactics aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the international arena and attempting to undermine support from partners .
