Russian propagandists are spreading fake photos on social media, trying to convince the audience that Ukraine is allegedly hiring actors to film the aftermath of Russian shelling.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
Three photos have surfaced online purporting to show the same man with a small dog at the sites of Russian attacks in Dnipro, Kyiv, and Rivne. Proponents claim that the man was specifically hired to take part in a staged filming.
However, the Central Police Department found out that only one of the photos was real. It was released by the Rivne police on October 13 after the Russian shelling of the city.
Two other images were created using artificial intelligence, as confirmed by specialized services that verify digital content.
The Center emphasizes that in this way Russia continues to promote the thesis about the alleged staged nature of the war in Ukraine. First of all, propagandists are trying to spread this disinformation among a foreign audience.
