The Center for Countering Disinformation announced another intensification of nuclear rhetoric from Russia. They believe that the Kremlin has returned to threats due to the lack of noticeable successes in the war against Ukraine.
This is stated in the message of the Central Police Department.
The Center drew attention to a publication in the Russian government publication Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the author of which openly proposed the use of tactical nuclear weapons to break through Ukrainian defenses. In addition, the material contained calls for the elimination of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Central Military Commission also recalled the statement of Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin, who spoke about the readiness of Moscow and Minsk to use the nuclear arsenal to “protect the allied state” against the backdrop of the alleged increase in NATO activity.
The Center for Countering Disinformation believes that the return to such rhetoric indicates Russia’s unwillingness to move towards a diplomatic settlement.
“Unable to achieve a result by military means and ignoring diplomatic initiatives, the Kremlin traditionally resorts to nuclear blackmail and intimidation,” the CPD noted.
They also emphasized that similar statements in official Russian media once again demonstrate the Kremlin’s unwillingness to stop its aggression against Ukraine.
