Russia Tries to Blame Ukraine for Missile Crash in Poland, CPD Says

AI-generated videos are being circulated on Polish TikTok as part of a disinformation campaign aimed at shifting responsibility for the crash of a Russian missile in Poland onto Ukraine, Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation said.

According to the CPD, the videos are distributed in Polish and disguised as humorous content. Artificial intelligence systems are used to create them.

The videos promote the claim that the missile that fell in Poland was actually Ukrainian but was allegedly disguised as Russian. In this way, the content authors are trying to shift responsibility for the incident onto the Ukrainian side.

The Center recalled that the Polish General Staff had previously warned about a large-scale disinformation campaign and the spread of manipulative messages surrounding the incident.

The CPD believes that Russia is using such informational interventions to influence public opinion in Poland. The propaganda is trying to impose a distorted version of events on Poles and increase tensions in relations between Ukraine and Poland.
