Russia is using the crisis in the Middle East for information attacks against Ukraine – CPD

Russia is using the escalation in the Middle East for new information attacks against Ukraine and attempts to discredit it on the international stage.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

In a new analytical report, experts noted that Russian propaganda is spreading fake news, including about Ukraine’s alleged sale of weapons on the “black market.”

Analysts have also identified systemic campaigns using deepfakes, tools the enemy uses to manipulate and spread false information.

The Central Intelligence Agency notes that the main goal of these campaigns is to pit Ukraine against key partners in the Middle East, as well as to undermine trust in Ukrainian technologies and expertise.

Separately, experts drew attention to the coordination of information efforts between Russia and Iran. Such interaction amplifies the impact of disinformation and creates additional risks for Ukraine’s national security.
