Russia issues new nuclear threat to West over Kaliningrad

Russia has declared its readiness to use nuclear weapons if NATO countries try to isolate the Kaliningrad region. Moscow has also admitted to strikes on “decision-making centers” in the Alliance countries.

This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement from the Russian side.

The Russian embassy in Ireland claims that NATO is allegedly preparing for an air and sea blockade of the Kaliningrad region. The diplomatic mission has not provided any evidence of such plans.

“There should be no doubt: Russia will be ready to use its entire arsenal, including nuclear weapons, to defend its territory if NATO countries try to isolate the Kaliningrad region from the rest of the country,” the statement said.

The Russian side also admitted the possibility of strikes on “decision-making centers” in NATO countries in the event of further escalation.

At the same time, the Russian diplomatic mission stated that Moscow allegedly does not seek to aggravate relations with Europe, and placed the responsibility for a possible escalation on European countries.

The statement came amid growing tensions between Russia and NATO over accusations of Moscow in hybrid attacks, sabotage, and other hostile actions against European states.
