Russia launched 147 drones and “Dagger” over Ukraine: how it tested its air defense

On the night of Thursday, May 28, Russia launched another massive attack on Ukraine, using a Kinzhal aeroballistic missile and almost 150 attack drones. Ukrainian air defense forces were able to destroy or suppress most of the enemy drones.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, the attack began on the evening of May 27. Russian troops launched a Kinzhal aeroballistic missile from the airspace of the Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation, as well as 147 attack UAVs of various types.
“The enemy attacked with a Kinzhal aeroballistic missile and 147 attack UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types and drones of other types,” the report says.
The drones were launched from several directions, including from the territory of the Bryansk, Kursk, and Oryol regions of the Russian Federation, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare units, and unmanned systems units were involved in repelling the attack.
The Air Force reported that as of 08:00, Ukrainian air defense had shot down or suppressed 138 enemy drones.
“According to preliminary data, 138 enemy UAVs were shot down/suppressed by air defense,” the military noted.
At the same time, hits of the Kinzhal missile and nine strike drones were recorded in seven locations. Falling debris from downed targets was recorded in six more locations. Information about the consequences of the attack is being clarified.
