Russia launched 255 drones over Ukraine: how it tested its air defense

On the night of July 31, Russian forces carried out another massive drone attack on Ukraine. The invaders launched 255 strike drones of various types, of which Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 195. At the same time, hits were recorded at 14 locations, and debris from downed targets fell on four more.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to him, the enemy used Shahed strike UAVs, including jet-powered ones, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parody simulator drones. The launches were carried out from the territory of Russia and the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk Oblast and Crimea.
“According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defenses shot down/suppressed 195 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas type and drones of other types in the north, south and east of the country,” the General Staff noted.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.
The General Staff also reported that 22 strike drones were hit in 14 locations, and debris from downed targets fell in four more places. As of 08:00, the air alert was ongoing, as enemy drones were still in Ukrainian skies.
