Russia launched 84 strike UAVs and S-300 missiles over Ukraine: how many did air defense shoot down?

On the night of Monday, September 15, Russian forces carried out a large-scale air strike on Ukraine, using 84 strike drones of various types and three S-300 missiles. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the sky defenders, 59 drones were shot down and suppressed, but some still struck targets in several regions.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the military, about 50 of the launched UAVs were “Shahed”, “Gerbers” and other types of drones were also recorded. The attack took place from the directions of the Kursk, Bryansk, Orel, Rostov regions and the Krasnodar Territory of Russia.

The strike was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.

As of 09:00, 59 enemy drones have been confirmed to have been destroyed in northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine. At the same time, three missiles and another 25 drones were recorded hitting 13 settlements.

The Dnipropetrovsk region suffered a particularly powerful blow. The defenders shot down six enemy drones, but some still reached their targets. In the Yuryivska community of Pavlohrad district, a fire broke out on the territory of a transport enterprise. A fire also broke out in Apostolovy, Kryvyi Rih district.

In the Nikopol district, the Russian army shelled communities with artillery and FPV drones. The district center and the Pokrovska community were hit. A 63-year-old woman was injured and hospitalized. Four private houses and outbuildings were damaged, another one was destroyed, and a gas pipeline was damaged.

In the Sinelnyky district, Russian troops used FPV drones and aerial bombs (KABs). The Pokrovska and Mezhivska communities were affected: the roof of a medical facility, an administrative building, a forest, and dry grass burned.
