Russia Launches Massive Strike on Zaporizhia: Dozens of Hits, Casualties Reported
On the night of September 16, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Zaporizhia, firing at least ten shells at the city. The strikes caused significant damage and resulted in casualties among civilians, according to preliminary reports.
The event was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
One person was killed in the shelling. At least 13 others were injured, including two children. One of the injured, a four-year-old girl, was taken to the hospital. The condition of one adult victim is described by doctors as serious.
The attack damaged private homes and non-residential buildings, and fires broke out in several areas. Rescue services, medical teams, and law enforcement are working at the scene.
The type of weapon used in the strikes has not yet been specified. Authorities are urging city residents not to ignore air raid sirens, to stay in shelters, and to follow safety recommendations, as the threat of repeated attacks remains.
As a reminder, Russian occupation forces attacked Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region with aerial bombs with high-explosive warheads.
As reported, Russian troops struck again at a critical infrastructure facility in the Nizhyn district of Chernihiv region, where rescuers had gone to extinguish a fire. Four firefighters from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were injured as a result of the attack.
