On the night of Thursday, June 18, Russian occupation forces launched a missile attack on Ukraine using ballistic weapons. Kyiv and Poltava were hit, where explosions were heard during an air raid.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The first warnings of a ballistic missile threat from the north came shortly before midnight. The military urged residents of the regions where the alert was issued to immediately take shelter.

The threat was later temporarily lifted, but after 1 a.m. the Air Force again reported the threat of a missile strike.

“Several ballistic missiles in the direction of Kyiv and Poltava region,” the military warned.

A few minutes after the alarm was announced, a series of powerful explosions were heard in the capital. The explosions were also heard by residents of Poltava.

The air alert due to the threat of ballistic strikes lasted for over an hour. The alert was lifted at around 02:38.

Currently, official information regarding possible damage, casualties, or the results of the work of air defense forces is being clarified.

According to the military, the danger was related to Russia’s use of ballistic weapons on the territory of Ukraine.
