Russian Ballistic Missile Attack on Kyiv Leaves People Dead and Injured, Causes Widespread Destruction

On the night of Tuesday, September 8, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv. Explosions and fires were reported in at least five districts of the capital, damaging residential and non-residential buildings and an educational institution. Two people were killed, and seven others were injured.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

“As of 06:30, 7 victims are known. Unfortunately, there is also information about 2 deaths as a result of an enemy attack,” the KMVA reported.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a 26-story non-residential building collapsed at the 23rd floor level as a result of the impact. No further burning occurred.

A garage caught fire at another address. The fire spread to a nearby non-residential building and a business center. During the investigation, rescuers rescued one victim.

Also in the Holosiivskyi district, a blast wave damaged a 16-story apartment building. Two people were trapped in the apartment – emergency workers took them out to fresh air.

In the Solomyanskyi district, people were trapped in a five-story apartment building. Rescuers rescued 10 people, and another person was hospitalized.

A garage on the territory of a private house caught fire in the Darnytskyi district. The fire has been extinguished.

A warehouse building caught fire in the Podilskyi district, and cars and garage boxes were also on fire.

In the Dnipro district, rescuers were extinguishing a fire in garages.

Rescue and emergency operations in the capital are ongoing.
