Russia launched hundreds of UAVs and missiles over Ukraine: how it tested its air defense

On the night of November 25, Russia launched a combined strike on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, using 464 strike drones and 22 missiles of various types. The air defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine neutralized most of the attacking targets, but some missiles and UAV debris reached the country’s territory.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, as of 6:00 p.m. Monday, the enemy used:

464 attack UAVs (Shahed, “Gerbera” and others), approximately 250 of them – “Shaheds”; launch directions: Shatalovo, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation) and Gvardiyske (TOT AR Crimea);

4 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles (Ryazan region, Russian Federation);

7 Iskander-K cruise missiles (Kursk region, Russian Federation);

8 Caliber cruise missiles (from the Black Sea);

3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (Bryansk region, Russian Federation).

As of 10:00, Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 452 enemy targets, including:

438 UAVs (Shahed and others);

1 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile;

5 Iskander-K cruise missiles;

5 Caliber cruise missiles;

3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles.

Despite successfully repelling the bulk of the attacks, 26 strike UAVs and missiles were recorded hitting 15 targets. Downed drones and debris fell at 12 locations, causing material damage.

Previously, the Ukrainian Air Force noted that the exact number of affected facilities and the extent of destruction are being clarified, and the relevant services continue to assess the situation.

As a reminder, on the night of November 25, Kyiv came under another round of shelling by the aggressor country. Russian troops used several types of weapons simultaneously, combining strikes with missiles of various ranges and kamikaze drones. The city came under heavy fire, and the air defense system operated almost continuously.

As reported later, at least 6 people died as a result of the strikes, including children, and people may be trapped under rubble in the Svyatoshyn district.

In addition, in the Odessa region on the night of November 25 , a Russian drone attack caused damage to civilian and energy facilities, and six people were injured, including two children.
