Russia launched Iskander-M and over 40 Shahed missiles in Ukraine: how the air defense worked

On the night of August 5, Russia carried out another large-scale air attack on the territory of Ukraine, using an Iskander-M ballistic missile, 46 Shahed attack drones, as well as drones simulating targets of various types.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
As of 08:00, air defense forces managed to destroy or suppress 29 enemy UAVs, mainly in northern and eastern Ukraine. The remaining drones overcame air defenses, resulting in at least 17 hits in the eastern regions of the country.
In addition, according to the FS, one ballistic missile also reached its target. Falling debris from downed targets was recorded in three locations in the southern and northeastern directions.
According to preliminary information, the strike drones were launched from the territory of the Russian Federation – from the Kursk, Bryansk, Orel and Primorsky-Akhtarsk regions. The occupiers launched the Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Bryansk region.
Aviation units, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare means, mobile fire groups, and elements of unmanned systems of the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack.
