Ukraine’s air defense forces successfully repelled an attack by Russian drones, neutralizing 84 of the 110 drones with which the enemy had been shelling the country since the evening of December 8.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the defenders, the attack was carried out by Shahed, Gerbera strike UAVs and other drones, which were moving from the directions of Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, temporarily occupied Donetsk and Gvardiyske in Crimea. About 70 of the drones were Shahed.

Ukraine’s air defenses, which included aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups, were able to repel a significant portion of the attack. As of the morning of December 9, 84 drones had been shot down or suppressed in the north, east, and south of the country.

Despite the successful defense, 24 strike UAVs hit nine locations each. The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones are still in the airspace.

Recall that last day, Russian troops again shelled the Sumy region, carrying out 105 attacks on 33 settlements in the region . Within the Sumy community, two civilians were injured as a result of strikes by FPV drones and kamikaze drones — a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman.
