Russia launched the second batch of Rasvet satellites: will the system become an analogue of Starlink?

Russia has launched a second batch of Rasvet satellites, which are positioned as an analogue of the Starlink system. There are currently about 40 such devices in orbit.

This was reported by the non-staff advisor to the President of Ukraine, Serhiy Beskrestnov (“Flash”), on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the satellites have not yet taken their places in the orbital group, but they may do so in the near future.

“It is worth noting that the satellites have not yet taken their places in the orbital group, but they can do so quickly,” Beskrestnov noted.

At the same time, he emphasized that in order to use the Rasvet system for military purposes, Russia needs to launch at least several hundred satellites into orbit.

For comparison, Beskrestnov cited the scale of other satellite groups:

• • SpaceX (Starlink) — over 15 thousand satellites;

• • OneWeb — about 600–700;

• • Amazon Project Kuiper — 400–500 satellites with a plan to deploy up to 4,000.

It was previously reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Serhiy Beskrestnov (“Flash”) as his freelance advisor on the development of defense technology .

“Flash” also stated that, despite positive news from the front, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to face a number of serious technological challenges that require urgent resolution .
