Russia lures Africans into war under the guise of film castings – media

Russia has begun recruiting men in Africa for its war against Ukraine under the guise of film castings. Men are shown advertisements offering them to star in a new film project, but in reality, it is a recruitment scheme.

One such ad appeared on Facebook. It was designed as an action movie poster and invited African men to a “global casting” for a new film.

The picture showed men in military uniform, and the image itself was created using artificial intelligence.

And this is not an isolated ad. According to Code for Africa, at least 89 websites, seven Facebook and other social media pages, and 39 accounts and channels on messengers are being used for this campaign. At the same time, new ones are constantly appearing.

Most often, such advertising is aimed at young men who have difficulty finding work and stable income.

This is not the first time Russia has recruited foreigners to fight in the war against Ukraine with various offers of work and income. According to Politico, citizens of India, Sri Lanka, Cuba, Kenya, Nepal, Botswana, South Africa, and other countries have been brought to Russia in this way.

It was previously reported that Russia has stepped up its recruitment of citizens of Peru and other Latin American countries to participate in the war against Ukraine. Recruiters are luring them with promises of high salaries, social guarantees, and simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship.
