On October 16, Russian troops attacked the Volyn and Rivne regions, using strike drones, including Shahed jets. In Kovel, a customs terminal was hit, about 10 trucks with semi-trailers caught fire, and in other settlements, damage to enterprises and infrastructure, as well as deaths and injuries were recorded.

As of 16:20, the Volyn region continued to be under attack by Russian Shahed strike drones, including jets. Romanyuk urged residents of the region to remain in shelters until the airstrikes are over. Details on the extent of damage in Kovel were being clarified at the time of the report.
In Lutsk , Russian troops again attacked a foreign-invested enterprise. Details about the consequences of the second strike were not reported at the time of the release of operational information.
The attack on Volyn began earlier. According to the regional military administration, during the morning strikes, Russian drones damaged civilian and critical infrastructure facilities. About 20 enemy targets were targeted in the region.
In the village of Manevichi, the Russian strike fell on the private enterprise “Agrofrukt LTD”. As a result of the attack, 1 person was killed and 8 others were injured. A fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise, which was localized, but the elimination of its consequences continued. There were also reports of a threat of ammonia leakage, but no excess levels of hazardous substances were detected outside the enterprise.
In the Lutsk community, a garage cooperative and an outbuilding were damaged during the morning attack. According to available information, there were no casualties as a result of these strikes. In addition, Russian drones attacked a railway locomotive near the international checkpoint “Yagodyn – Dorohusk”. According to preliminary data, no people were injured.
Power outages have occurred in Lutsk due to damage to the energy infrastructure. Two substations were reportedly damaged, and the power supply situation in the city remained difficult. Russian troops also attacked the Rivne region . In Rivne, one of the lyceums was hit. The head of the Rivne OVA, Oleksandr Koval, reported that there were no casualties as a result of this attack. Later, there were also reports of an attack on one of the city’s large shopping and entertainment centers, which, according to available reports, injured 7 people.
In the afternoon, explosions also occurred in Kolomyia , Ivano-Frankivsk region. According to the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Regional Administration, Svitlana Onyshchuk, after the downing of a Russian drone in the Kolomyia community, a fire broke out on the territory of one of the enterprises. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, and emergency services were working at the scene.
Recall that on the night of October 16, Russian occupation forces massively attacked the western regions of Ukraine with drones. Power supply was cut off in Lutsk and Kovel, civilian infrastructure was damaged in Rivne and seven people were injured, and a foreign manufacturing enterprise was destroyed in Chortkiv, Ternopil region.
