Large-scale forest fires are raging in Russia. Transbaikalia is suffering the most, but instead of putting out the fires, the Russian Federation is spending its forces on war.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

The CPD notes that attempts to stop the fires involve civil servants and budget employees who have neither the skills nor the means of protection. Many of them are forced to take leave at their own expense to put out the fires.

“Since the start of the full-scale war in Russia, the situation with forest fires has worsened. In May of this year alone, more than 4.3 million hectares of forests burned down in Transbaikalia, and in the meantime, the Russian media are trying to keep the problem quiet,” the CPD noted.

The report notes that officials in the Russian Federation have no motivation to fight the fires, because the Kremlin requires them to spend most of their money and resources on the war against Ukraine.

Earlier it became known that the largest Russian shipping company Sovcomflot suffered a net loss of $393 million in the first quarter of 2025 .
