Russia plans to produce up to 120,000 aerial bombs with a range of up to two hundred kilometers: the GUR warned of the threat
Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitsky, stated that Russia plans to produce up to one hundred and twenty thousand glider bombs this year, including a new modification with increased range.
This is reported by Reuters .
Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia has significantly increased the production of glider bombs after the start of a full-scale invasion in 2022. According to Vadim Skibitsky, in 2025 Moscow plans to produce up to one hundred and twenty thousand such munitions, including new products and modernized old models.
Skibitsky noted that Russian troops use from two hundred to two hundred and fifty such bombs daily. According to him, this significantly exceeds the figures of previous months. He emphasized that glider bombs have a high destructive load and are capable of hitting buildings and fortifications without the aircraft entering the zone of attack of Ukrainian air defense systems.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia has begun mass production of a new version of the glider bomb with a range of up to 200 kilometers and plans to produce about 500 of these units by the end of the year. In addition, Moscow is working on versions that could potentially travel up to 400 kilometers, which would allow Russian forces to attack even more Ukrainian settlements.
The article notes that the autumn strikes on the Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Odessa regions demonstrated an expansion of the radius of impact of these aerial bombs. The Russian Ministry of Defense did not provide any comments to journalists regarding this data.
Skibitsky also said that Russia is increasing drone production, in particular, it plans to produce about seventy thousand drones in 2025, thirty thousand of which will be of the Shahed type. According to him, this is part of a strategy to put pressure on the Ukrainian energy system in the winter.
The intelligence agency also said that North Korea has significantly reduced its supply of artillery shells to Russia as its own stockpiles have been depleted. Pyongyang is estimated to have delivered about six and a half million shells to Moscow since 2023, but there were no deliveries in September, and some of the ammunition was so outdated that it needed to be reconditioned at Russian factories.
Skibitsky added that North Korea has launched mass production of strike and FPV drones on its territory. He stressed that Pyongyang is studying its experience of participating in the war to strengthen its own capabilities.
The report also said that thousands of North Korean troops fought alongside Russian units in the Kursk region last year after the Ukrainian invasion, which was intended to relieve pressure on other fronts. Pyongyang confirmed its participation but gave no details.
By the way, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russia is mass-producing guided modular glide bombs , which, thanks to a turbojet engine, can fly up to two hundred kilometers. This will result in the possibility of striking from a safer distance for Russian aviation and expanding the radius of the threat across the territory of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Russia has increased production of Geran-2 strike drones (an analogue of the Iranian Shahed-136) and is now capable of producing about 2,700 drones per month. At the same time , Russia plans to attract 12,000 North Korean workers to work at its military enterprises in Tatarstan . This, according to Ukrainian intelligence, is part of large-scale preparations for the production of long-range drones, with which the Russian Federation strikes at the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.
