A Russian military intelligence agent was detained in Poland, who was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in three European countries using drones and explosives.
This is stated in the material of the Gazeta Wyborcza publication.
In particular, the Internal Security Agency and the National Prosecutor’s Office established that the terrorist attack was being prepared in Poland, Germany, and Lithuania.
Polish law enforcement officers have detained a 27-year-old Ukrainian man named Vladislav, who was recruited by Russian intelligence through social media.
“His recruitment is a classic example of GRU methods. The Russians are looking for people from former Soviet countries who have criminal records or financial problems,” law enforcement officials explained.
During the investigation, it became clear that last summer the suspect, who lives in Katowice, crossed the border with Lithuania three times.
During one of his trips, he dug up cans of canned corn from a cemetery in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas. Carrying out the instructions of a Russian curator, the suspect transported the cans to Poland and hid them near the exit of the A2 motorway towards Zges.
It later became known that the cans were densely packed with explosives. According to experts, the contents of one container are equivalent to 1.4 kg of TNT.
In addition, another task of the agent was to deliver packages to a Lithuanian saboteur connected to Russian military intelligence.
Three of the cargoes caught fire during transport, and the fourth was intercepted by Polish police. Authorities stressed that, although there were no casualties, cargoes transported by plane were particularly dangerous and could have led to a plane crash.
If the suspicions are proven, the detainee faces life imprisonment.
Recall thatRussia is probably preparing a fake special forces operation against Poland’s critical infrastructure in order to later shift responsibility to Ukraine.
