More than 200 Indians have been victims of recruitment by Russian recruiters to participate in hostilities against Ukraine.
This was reported by the BBC Russian Service, citing the Indian government.
Reports from Delhi authorities indicate that 26 people have died and seven are missing. The Indian government is currently negotiating with Moscow to repatriate about 50 people, and more than 100 citizens have already returned home.
The Russian side claims that only foreign volunteers are recruited into the army, but the facts indicate forced recruitment.
India, as well as Nepal and Sri Lanka, have urged their citizens not to trust the promises of recruiters after it became known that hundreds of citizens of these countries are fighting on the side of Russia in Ukraine.
Relatives of the missing said that young men were lured with offers of legal work with high salaries and accommodation, but in reality they were forced to sign contracts in Russian, the content of which they did not understand, after which they were sent to the front.
Let us recall that hostile intelligence services use financial enticements and blackmail to recruit Ukrainians, targeting vulnerable categories of the population. At the same time, the Russian FSB involves a variety of individuals in “cooperation”, from teenagers to citizens with addictions.
More than two hundred Kenyans have reportedly been fighting on Russia’s side in the war against Ukraine, and diplomats say the number is growing. The government says recruitment networks are active in both Kenya and Russia.
