Russia does not plan to extend the so-called “Easter truce” and states that it is exclusively humanitarian in nature.

This is reported by the BBC.

The Russian dictator’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stressed that such steps should not be viewed as a political signal or a change in Moscow’s position.

“We don’t want a truce, we want peace, a strong, sustainable peace,” he said, referring to Vladimir Putin’s position.

At the same time, Peskov voiced a condition under which, according to him, “peace can come today.” He stated that this is possible if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “takes responsibility and makes an appropriate decision.”

The Kremlin spokesman did not specify what decision he was referring to. Presumably, he meant the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas.

Peskov also commented on Zelensky’s statement about Ukraine’s mirror response to Russia’s actions regarding the ceasefire. According to him, Moscow has drawn attention to this position, but without providing details.

It was previously reported that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had declared an Easter truce.

As a reminder, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that President Volodymyr Zelensky’s proposal for a ceasefire for Easter “has a chance of being implemented.”
