Russia rejected cessation of hostilities as a condition for peace talks with Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated during the BRICS summit in New Delhi that Russia does not plan to stop hostilities against Ukraine for the duration of possible negotiations.

This is reported by Russian media.

“We are still ready for negotiations. However, we will not stop the special military operation during the negotiations,” Lavrov told reporters.

Separately, the Russian Foreign Minister called the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to come to Moscow a “huge gesture of goodwill” from Russia.

Thus, Russia rejects a cessation of hostilities or a temporary ceasefire as a prerequisite for starting a diplomatic process.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to come to Miami and meet with Vladimir Putin if he attends the G20 summit in December. The Kremlin said that a possible trip by Putin to the summit has not yet been discussed.
