A new enemy tactic has been recorded in Sumy Oblast: Russia is using strike drones to remotely mine Ukrainian territories with PTM-3 anti-tank mines. Police are warning citizens about the extreme danger that threatens both military and civilians, including farmers.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police.

The National Police of Ukraine reports a new explosive threat from the Russian occupiers. In the territory of Sumy region, the Defense Forces of Ukraine discovered a downed enemy strike drone with cluster elements with PTM-3 anti-tank mines attached under its wings.

According to law enforcement officials, this is how Russia carries out remote mining of the area — including roads, agricultural lands, field paths, and other open areas that are actively used by civilians and equipment.

The PTM-3 mine is particularly dangerous because of its compact size, plastic body, and magnetic detonator. It reacts to the approach of vehicles, regardless of their type, and can detonate even if they pass by. Combined with the possibility of remote dispersion via drones, this weapon poses an additional threat in peaceful areas that were previously considered relatively safe.

Ukrainian police are urging extreme caution, especially for those working in fields, traveling on dirt roads, or operating machinery in high-risk areas. Due to the grassy surface and poor visibility, mines may remain undetected until they explode.

If suspicious objects are discovered, especially those that look like anti-tank mines, it is necessary to:

  • Stop the vehicle immediately.
  • Move to a safe distance.
  • Call the police at 102.

It is also noted that enemy drones that do not explode after falling are also a danger. They may contain additional explosive traps or sensors that react to attempted interference or approach.

Recall that military intelligence warns thatthis winter Russia will prepare massive strikes on Ukraine’s energy and critical infrastructure , trying to leave cities without heat and water. In parallel, the enemy is modernizing the Shahed kamikaze drones, increasing their power and range.

By the way, Russia is actively modernizing the infrastructure of the occupied Donetsk airport to launch attack drones at Ukrainian cities . Placing launch points closer to the front line will reduce the response time of Ukrainian air defense and increase the threat to both Ukraine and NATO countries.

It is worth adding that during the morning attack on July 31, Russian forces used ground-based Iskander-K cruise missiles, launched from the territory of the Kursk region. The enemy uses the tactic of launching missiles at very low altitudes , which significantly complicates their detection by Ukrainian air defenses.

At the same time, Ukrainians began to hear a new eerie sound in the night sky – it is about jet versions of Shahed kamikaze drones, which Russia began to use in recent days. This was the enemy’s response to the successes of Ukrainian anti-aircraft drones. So far, the attacks are not massive, but the appearance of a new type of drone may change the nature of threats from the air in the coming months. Earlier it became known that Russian Shahed drones began to perform complex maneuvers in flight to avoid being hit by Ukrainian interceptor drones .
