Russia’s “Northern Claw” has been defeated: Biletsky spoke about the situation in the Donetsk region

This was announced on television by the commander of the Third Army Corps, Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky.

According to him, the Russian command planned to surround the Ukrainian fortress cities from the north and south. The southern part of the plan was to pass through Dobropillya, and the northern part was to pass through the salient towards Svyatohirsk and further to Barvinkove.

The “Claws” were supposed to converge in the Barvinkove area, but this plan failed to materialize.

Biletsky noted that the infiltration of Russian troops near Dobropillya was stopped last year. According to him, the situation in this area remains difficult but controlled.

At the same time, the northern direction of the Russian offensive, according to the commander, has been virtually destroyed.

“The northern claw has actually been defeated and destroyed,” said Biletsky.

He stressed that it is now important to prevent the resumption of the Russian offensive, in particular by striking at the logistics and rear areas of the occupation forces.

As the commander of the Third Corps explained, if the attempt to capture fails, Russian troops will have to storm the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk and Druzhkivsk-Konstantinovsk agglomerations directly.

In particular, he noted that such an offensive would be much more difficult for the Russians and would require more resources than an attempt to bypass cities and take them without a fight.
