Russia strikes Chernihiv: woman and 4-year-old child killed

On Wednesday, August 26, Russian occupation forces attacked Chernihiv with drones. One of the enemy UAVs hit a private residential building where people were at the time of the strike. A 49-year-old woman and her 4-year-old child were killed in the attack. Another child, a 14-year-old girl, was injured.

The consequences of the strike were reported by the Chernihiv City Council and the head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration, Dmytro Bryzhynsky. According to him, the drone directly hit a residential building.

After the impact, the house caught fire. The flames destroyed it almost completely, and the outbuildings were also damaged. In addition, a fire broke out in a store located nearby.

Previously, three people were in the home at the time of the attack. A 14-year-old girl was rescued and taken to the hospital.

Search operations at the scene of the tragedy continued after the fire was extinguished. It was during the dismantling of the destroyed structures that rescuers discovered the bodies of the two deceased.

“One UAV hit a residential building. As a result of the attack, a 14-year-old child was injured and, unfortunately, 2 people died: a woman and a 4-year-old child,” Bryzhynskyi reported.

This is not the first attack on Chernihiv in the past 24 hours. On August 25, Russian forces launched a series of drone strikes on the city. As a result of the previous attacks, critical infrastructure and warehouses were damaged, and people were injured.
