A Russian drone attack on civilian vessels in the Black Sea killed a crew member of one of the ships. Five other sailors were injured to varying degrees.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba.

According to him, a Panamanian-flagged vessel was hit. One crew member was killed and two sailors were injured, one of them in serious condition.

Russian drones also attacked a vessel flying the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis. Three crew members suffered minor injuries as a result of the strike.

“The target is civilian crews, merchant vessels, and maritime infrastructure that ensures the operation of humanitarian and export routes,” Kuleba said.

He emphasized that attacks on civilian shipping are a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to international trade and global food security.

According to the official, such actions by Russia should receive international evaluation.

“The world cannot get used to civilian sailors becoming targets for Russian weapons,” he added.
