Russia strikes Odessa region with guided bombs for the first time

On the afternoon of October 24, a series of powerful explosions were heard in the Odessa region — Russian troops struck the region with a guided aerial bomb (GAB) for the first time.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Air Force clarified that the bomb was moving in the direction of Yuzhne and Chornomorske. According to preliminary information, the enemy used a modified version of the UMPB-5 jet bombs, which had not previously been used for attacks in the region.

At 1:57 p.m., the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper, officially confirmed that this was the first recorded use of guided bombs against the Odessa region.

“During today’s air attack, the Russian army used CABs for the first time on the civilian infrastructure of our region. This is a new and extremely serious threat, because such strikes pose a huge danger to people and can cause large-scale destruction,” Kiper emphasized.

The head of the OVA also appealed to residents of the region not to ignore air raid sirens and to follow safety rules during air attacks.

Recall that some time ago, the Russian Federation also delivered KABs to Mykolaiv for the first time . On October 16, the Russian occupation army struck the city with two guided aerial bombs.
