Russia strikes rescuers in Kharkiv region for the second time: one dead and one injured

On the night of October 23, Russian troops attacked a place where firefighters were working in the Kharkiv region for the second time after a previous shelling. As a result of the second strike, one rescuer from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine was killed and five more of his colleagues were injured.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service.

According to the agency, the tragedy occurred in the village of Zelenyy Gay, Velyky Burlutsk community, Kupyansky district. While extinguishing a fire caused by an enemy drone, the occupiers opened fire again, aiming at the rescuers’ work site.

As a result of the shelling, the commander of the department, chief master sergeant of the civil defense service Yuriy Chistikov, born in 1975, died. The deceased is survived by a daughter.

The State Emergency Service noted that Yuriy Chistikov was an example of true professionalism and dedication:

“For him, saving people always came before his own safety. Yuriy’s name will forever remain in the memory of rescuers as a symbol of courage, honor, and loyalty to the service.”

As a reminder, on the night of October 23, Russian troops carried out another attack with kamikaze drones on Kyiv . Seven people were injured as a result of the strikes and falling debris.
