Russian forces launched a missile strike on a training ground in the Kyiv region where an arms exhibition was taking place with the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry. The attack killed at least 6 people and injured dozens.
This was announced by Valeriy Borovik, the founder of the defense products manufacturer First Contact.
Borovik noted that Russian troops had struck a “very serious” blow at one of the training grounds where the arms exhibition was taking place.
“There was a very serious strike on one of the training grounds, where an arms exhibition was taking place. And our friends were there,” said Valeriy Borovik.
He noted that he could not disclose the location of the impact and all its consequences until official information appeared.
“… I can’t say where the point is and the consequences, but that’s all… Unfortunately, we have deaths, destruction, and so on,” Valeriy Borovyk added.
The Ukrainian Council of Arms Manufacturers later confirmed that a Russian missile had hit a location in the Kyiv region where representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry were located. The report noted that there were deaths and injuries as a result of the strike.
The organization emphasized that information about the exact location of the event was not publicly distributed, and the circumstances of the attack are being established by the competent authorities. The Council also called not to publish photos, videos, geolocation, information about victims, companies and other details that could harm people, the work of the Defense Forces or the investigation. At the same time, it was clarified that the team of the Ukrainian Council of Gunsmiths was not the organizer of the event, but maintains contact with colleagues and provides necessary assistance.
Volunteer Serhiy Sternenko also responded to the attack. He reported that Russian troops had struck one of the training grounds where an arms exhibition was taking place, and noted that it was likely a ballistic attack on the Kyiv region. Sternenko later clarified that at least 6 people had died in the strike , and dozens were also injured.
Among the participants in the exhibition was Serhiy Beskrestnov (“Flash”), a non-staff adviser to the President of Ukraine on the development of technological areas of defense. After the Russian strike, he reported that he was not injured.
“Thank you friends, everything is fine with me. The team is alive,” Beskrestnov wrote .
After that, “Flash” clarified that he was not at the training ground during the attack and did not plan to visit it.
“Friends, I was not there and did not plan to be at this training ground. I wrote for my friends on the page that everything is fine with me, because everyone knows that I often attend such events,” wrote Serhiy Beskrestnov.
According to him, there are “dozens, if not hundreds” of such events, but he refuses to participate if he sees potential risks.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the consequences of the Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region. According to him, the rescue operation is ongoing, dozens of people are injured and at least 6 people have died.
“A rescue operation is currently underway in the Kyiv region after the Russian missile strike. As of now, dozens of victims are known. It is also known that, unfortunately, six people died. My condolences to their families and loved ones. The investigation of all circumstances and the fate of the people continues. All necessary services are working on the spot,” the president said.
At the same time, the president did not specify that the missile strike on the Kyiv region was carried out precisely at the location where the arms exhibition was taking place.
Also, Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat emphasized that the Armed Forces have long banned holding events and public events.
“These requirements must also be observed by civilians when holding any events,” he emphasized.
Journalists from dev.ua suggested that this is probably the Defense Demo Day & Defense Expo exhibition, organized by the Armada Association of Manufacturers of Unmanned Systems and Related Technologies, which was scheduled for July 24, 2026. This practical demonstration event was dedicated to comprehensive solutions for protecting critical infrastructure from modern air threats.
The day before, explosions were heard in Kyiv . Authorities reported that air defense forces were working in the capital due to an air attack.
It was previously reported that Russian occupation forces dropped two aerial bombs on Sloviansk , resulting in five people being killed and nine injured.
Recall that on the morning of July 24, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Izyum in the Kharkiv region . The attack with guided bombs damaged the cargo department of Nova Poshta, a warehouse, and civilian infrastructure facilities.
