The Russian strike virtually destroyed the Khortytsia distillery in Zaporizhia: the enterprise cannot be restored, and the company lost millions of bottles of finished products.
This was reported by the press service of Global Spirits, which includes the plant, NV Business reports.
According to the company, there were four flights to the facility. The fire lasted for at least three hours after the attack.
Global Spirits said the plant was critically damaged and beyond repair. The fire destroyed a significant portion of the product, and bottles that did not burn melted and will also be disposed of.
“Some of the products burned completely, some melted and are subject to disposal,” the company’s press service reported.
In total, Global Spirits lost about 3-4 million bottles of products for which excise duty had already been paid. The average cost of one bottle was about 100 hryvnias.
The attack on Zaporizhia was previously reported by the head of the Zaporizhia OVA, Ivan Fedorov. According to him, the Russian attack damaged the production facilities of one of the city’s enterprises, after which a fire broke out there.
This is not the first large-scale attack by the Russian Federation on Global Spirits facilities. Earlier, a Russian attack destroyed the company’s main warehouse in Zaporizhia along with its inventory. At that time, the damage was previously estimated at more than UAH 100 million.
The Khortytsia plant was one of the key enterprises of Global Spirits. It was built according to a special project, and the production was equipped with equipment from world manufacturers. The enterprise employed more than 500 people, and the bottling lines could produce up to 16 bottles per second.
In addition to “Khortytsia” vodka, the enterprise produced products under the brands “Morosha”, “Pervak”, “Medova”, “Pshenychna Sloza” and Gold Ukraine.
