Russia struck Ukraine with Iskanders and 51 drones: how the air defense worked

Air defense forces have neutralized 31 of the 51 drones that the Russians have used to attack Ukraine since the evening of December 19.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that from 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, the invaders attacked with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as 51 Shahed, Gerbera UAVs and drones of other types from the following directions: Orel, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), and about 30 of them were Shahed.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 09:00 on Saturday, December 20, air defenses had shot down/suppressed 31 UAVs in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.

Ballistic missile hits and 20 strike UAVs were recorded at 15 locations.
