Russia tightens control on Kerch Bridge ahead of holidays

The Russian authorities announced increased control at the approaches to the Kerch Bridge on the eve of the New Year holidays.

This was reported by Radio Liberty’s Crimea.Realities project, citing the Russian Ministry of Transport.

According to the Russian agency, from December 26 to January 11, 212 checkpoints will be deployed on the approaches to the bridge. 80 of them will be equipped for manual inspection of vehicles.

Russian officials claim that such measures will allow them to inspect up to 17,500 vehicles per day.

The Russian Ministry of Transport also stated that the inspection and maintenance infrastructure at the approaches to the bridge is capable of passing up to 1,100 cars per hour. Up to 650 cars are planned to pass from the Tamana side, and up to 500 from the Kerch side.

It was previously reported that the Russian occupation authorities restricted the passage of electric vehicles across the Crimean Bridge, fearing that explosives could be hidden in their battery packs.

As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine struck the Crimean Bridge for the third time . The explosion occurred underwater. After a unique special operation, the illegal structure was in a state of emergency.
