Russia turns to Kazakhstan for help due to gasoline shortage – media
Russia has asked Kazakhstan to supply about 50,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline amid growing fuel problems on the domestic market.
This was reported by Reuters, citing four industry sources.
According to the agency’s sources, Moscow is seeking additional volumes of gasoline due to a shortage that is increasing in many regions of the country. At the same time, sources doubt that Kazakhstan will be able to significantly help Russia, since it itself has limited opportunities to increase production.
As Reuters notes, Astana is ready to consider supplying gasoline in exchange for Russian aviation fuel. However, Russia is also having difficulties with this resource.
Amidst the fuel shortage, the Russian authorities have already imposed restrictions on the sale of gasoline and diesel in more than 50 regions of the country.
In addition, Moscow is trying to contain the crisis by reducing exports of petroleum products and increasing state support for oil refineries.
Fuel problems in Russia arise against the backdrop of regular attacks on oil refining infrastructure and growing domestic demand, which is putting increasing pressure on the oil products market.
As previously reported, Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries are increasingly hitting the Russian fuel industry . Gasoline production has declined significantly, and fuel problems are already affecting regions located thousands of kilometers from Ukraine.
As a reminder, on the night of June 15 , drones attacked facilities in the Moscow and Tula regions of Russia . After the strikes, fires were recorded, and OSINT analysts reported possible damage to enterprises of the Russian defense industry.
