Russia uses AI and TikTok to spread fake news about migrants – CPD
The Center for Countering Disinformation announced the exposure of a large-scale Russian information campaign aimed at inciting interethnic hatred in Ukraine.
This is reported by the Central Police Department.
The Center stated that they had discovered a network of Russian agents of influence linked to the 85th Main Center of the Special Service of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
According to the Central Migration Service, this network systematically disseminates manipulative information about migration processes in Ukraine.
The campaign also involves resources associated with Viktor Medvedchuk, accused of treason, the propaganda channels of sanctioned Vasyl Prozorov, and the “ZOV” resource network.
The CPD stated that the campaign organizers are actively using modern tools to influence artificial intelligence. In particular, the “ZOV” network is massively generating anti-migrant content so that search engine algorithms and chatbots perceive these fakes as reliable information.
AI-generated videos on TikTok and bot farms on Facebook are also used to spread destructive content.
The Center emphasized that Russia’s main goal is to destabilize Ukrainian society through artificially provoking interethnic hostility.
